How to Achieve Your Goals Before the End of the Year

Every year, retail stores seem to put out Christmas merchandise earlier. Haven’t you noticed that back-to-school supplies get replaced with Halloween and Christmas stuff? It reminds you just how quickly fall goes by.

It also reminds you that the end of the year is in sight.

Before you know it, you’ll be thinking about the plans you want to make for next year. But what about the goals you’d set for this year? Have you accomplished everything you set out to do? If not, don’t worry - you can still achieve great things before the end of the year.

Here are some tips to help you along the way:

  1. Meet with a life coach. The initial consultation is FREE and helps you create a baseline for where you are. You talk about what you want to accomplish, goal planning, and how you can work together to make it happen.

  2. Change your routine. You don’t have to completely rearrange your life, but make some real changes in your daily activities that align with and include steps in your goal planning. Why keep doing what you're doing if you’re not accomplishing what you want to? Something needs to give, and a change in your routine creates a window of opportunity.

  3. Practice accountability. If you want to be a rock star before January hits, you need to own your actions as well as all of the decisions you make from now until the end of the year. Your life coach or a friend can be your accountability partner to help you.

  4. Create a timeline. This is part of your goal planning, but with the end of the year coming soon, a timeline is at the heart of your goal planning. It helps you stay on track and avoid getting overwhelmed.

  5. Record your action. You’re taking action and moving through your goals, and that’s great, but if you want to keep your momentum, you need to document it. This keeps you motivated and moving forward because you can see the progress you’re making. The great things you’re accomplishing are recorded- Go You!!

  6. Stay focused. It's easy to get discouraged when things get tough, but it's important to stay on task. Remember why you set your goals in the first place and keep that in mind when you're feeling discouraged.

  7. Celebrate your successes. As you reach your goals, take some time to celebrate your successes. This is so important! What brings you joy? Treat yourself to that every week! Give yourself time to take a walk at a favorite spot, go to a movie or restaurant, or buy yourself a little memento each week to celebrate the work you’re doing.

You may wonder if goal setting really works. Research shows us it definitely does!

“Over 1,000 studies have consistently shown that setting high and specific goals is linked to increased task performance, persistence, and motivation, compared to vague or easy goals (Locke and Latham, 2002, 2006).” 1

Now, I want you to imagine what life will be like in January.

You are experiencing all the benefits of reaching your goals. You’re in a better place with your career. You are more fit. Your relationship is healthier. No matter what your goals were, you are in a much better situation because you put on your boxing gloves and decimated your goals this fall. Or maybe you strapped on your skates and rolled past all the obstacles on your way to accomplishing everything you set out to do.

How do you feel? FANTASTIC!!! Right?? More happy, healthy, and confident!

This is possible for you, but you must take action Today!!!

With a little planning and effort, you can achieve your goals before the end of the year. But if you put nothing in motion today, then in January, you’ll be sitting in exactly the same place you are right now, wishing things were better.

And right now, to help you accomplish great things before the year is up, you can get a month of FREE life coaching! If you sign up for two months of coaching, you get a third month at no cost.
